Time disappears from us all. It can’t be grasped and controlled, it stands still for no one. So what’s been happening?
Megumi Fujii is on the gradual comeback with a win back in Japan towards the end of last year after her upset loss (and the first of here MMA career) to Zoila Frausto in Bellator. It doesn’t appear Frausto will fight again at 115lbs so a rematch could be problematic, if not an impossibility.
Josh Barnett will fight for the first time on American soil this April since the steroids controversy and being denied a license for the Affliction Trilogy show a couple of years ago. Barnett maintains his innocence and his issues with the California State Athletic Commission ongoing. Barnett takes on the heavy handed Brett Rogers in Dallas, Texas.
Neil Melanson continues to be the subject of unfair criticism from Internet know-it-alls looking to rip down anything different if it elevates their own ‘team’ in the process. Even direct testimony from the likes of Ryan Couture and father Randy Couture only temporarily halts the cyber-sages who know better.
Kazushi Sakuraba is still competing in MMA but falling apart in the process. I just hope he doesn’t become a full blown tragedy at this point.
Speaking of Sakuraba, his gym Laughter7 has crowned its first world champion Takenori Sato who became the Welterweight King of Pancrase – the 6th only in the promotions history.
Hopefully it won’t be months before I update this again, but if anyone would like to volunteer news or articles please do so via the forum. In the mean time I’m still flying the Catch flag when I can when I write for Cageside Seats.
